Melkor is the first model of the Jules family. As its name implies it’s been carved for perfection; for dark and deep basses in Drop E tuning. To achieve this incredible sound, GVGuitars armed it with Nordstrand Neo Pickups, and the one on the neck neck can be switched between parallel and serial wiring. The extra “oomph” is given by the DarkGlass Tone Capsule, but for more sophisticated procedures  it can be turned off with the active/passive switch. As its predecessor, this Melkor also has the Silmarils (colored dot inlays).

Chaozz Funk is the first 5-string Fang bass, with everything you could imagine. This Jules model was created to be like a well-known classic, but with some twists. The first thing what will catch one’s eye it’s the finish. The Colibri coloured chroma-coat gives this guitar a really exotic feel. Yet the two (almost) traditional Jazz pickups from Kent Armstrong gives the time-honoured sound, but without the usual hum. The next thing one will notice it’s length of the neck. This bass is has 30″ short scale which also adds to it’s uniqueness. Under the “hood” there is a quite odd wood setup: a 25 year old poplar, ash + wengé neck and a purpleheart fingerboard. The inlays are made from metallic coloured epoxy and representing wave lengths where the amplitudes are in the positions of the usual markers. The controls are very standard Vol-Vol-Tone for easier navigation.
